Our story
Founded in 2016, Avel & Men (meaning "wind and rock" in Breton) quickly specialized in watch accessories. Today, it is the leading specialist in canvas and sailcloth watch straps, all made entirely in France.
A family affair!
Agnès, the older sister, oversees design, production and quality. Xavier, the younger brother, is in charge of business development.
Our roots in Porspoder
Located at the northwestern tip of Finistère, opposite the Four lighthouse, the town of Porspoder is the most beautiful place in the world. It is where the co-founders of Avel & Men grew up and where they draw inspiration for their collections.
A passion for watchmaking...
When he was 22, Xavier discovered a Lip Nautic Automatic watch in a drawer at his family home. It had been a graduation gift from his grandparents to his father. After a thorough service, the watch, with its magnificent patina, sparked a passion for horology.
A passion for boating
A love of the sea and regattas is in the brand's DNA. From its inception, Agnès and Xavier decided to use this environmentally conscious world as a source of inspiration for the design and choice of materials for their products.
Made in France and responsibly
Passionate about design and a graduate of the KLC School of Design in London, Agnès designs products while constantly seeking local solutions for sourcing materials. Our "sales line" lining is manufactured and printed in Normandy, and our sailcloth comes from sailmakers in Morbihan.
